BBC Radio 4 Extra, "Down Your Way" in the FoD, from 1988 (General)
BBC Radio Four Extra have just repeated an interesting programme about the Forest which was first broadcast in early 1988, as part of their "Down Your Way" series. Presenter Pam Ayres first visits St Briavels Castle, meets some of the flora and fauna near the castle with naturalist Lionel Kellaway, enjoys a fireside chat in Winifred Foley's home, visits the newly-opened Sculpture Trail with Forestry Commission warden Geoff Carter, and finally visits freeminer Don Johns.
This interesting 1/2 hour programme will be available on the BBC iPlayer for another 4 weeks.

Thanks for that, Jeff. A good listen.

Thank you Jeff - that was an engaging and interesting programme to listen to. It was lovely that it started with Pam at St Briavels Castle, where my wife and I spent some time on our only visit to the Forest, and went on to Hudnalls Wood, where part of my family lived.
I enjoyed listening to Pam interviewing Winifred Foley as well - the pair of them apparently on their best linguistic behaviour for the Beeb, until they got excited or funny, and then the accents broadened!
Thanks again.
John
