Please can anyone tell me if there a grave record for Littledean churchyard available?

I guess you mean Littledean, St Ethelberts. I’m not sure exactly what you want but you may find some information here. You may need to register to get the most out of the site.

Hi Norman,
as you've probably realised Littledean hasn't been discussed much in the forum, unlike some of the other local churchyard's, I can only find this related prior post.

Tichfen's not visited the forum for a few years but it seems they are still active, their username is still being displayed as a blue hyperlink. I suggest it might be worth sending a direct message in case they can help you.

I also suggest contacting the Church in advance of your visit, the Cinderford area vicar Mike Barnsley seems a pleasant sort so it's possible they might be able to help out, especially for a small donation towards upkeep, perhaps.

As an aside, I'm sure you've already seen it within the Memorial Inscriptions part of this site's Resources section, but the Bigland Transcripts from the late C18th include Littledean.

Should be a lovely time to visit, hopefully dry mild weather so good underfoot and some spring flowers too; I cannot speak from experience wrt Littledean but some of the area's churchyards can get overgrown in the summer. I sincerely hope that the terrible damage suffered by some local cemeteries doesn't happen at Littledean, it's probably a bit far from the woods.

Good luck !

I seem to remember from a few years ago that Gloucester Family History Society had a transcript of the Littledean graves.

Hi Martin, thanks for that.
Yes I wondered that too when posting to this query. However, I found that Littledean wasn't included within the following GFHS cd, so I presumed they don't have the info.

However I may well have been wrong and you are raising a very valid point and GFHS are worth contacting. In fact until we queried it a year or two ago, the above listing erroneously included Cinderford St Johns, so it's perhaps possible that their listings contain more errors and Littledean is indeed included within their records.

Hopefully in time this thread will be updated for us all to learn from.
Thanks again Martin, atb Jeff.
