Looking for photos of my great grandmother. She would have attended school in Yorkley or Viney Hill. We have no photos as all at the moment so I'm reliant on name photos unfortunately. Can anyone give me any advice about how to go about this? I have been on ancestry.com but my membership expires next week. Unfortunately she passed away at the age of 40. I guess she would have attended school from the age of 5 or 6, so I'd be looking from 1904.

Finnally, and I appreciate her first name may not have been Alice, but are you certain she was born in 1898 ?.
Asking as I'm struggling to find her birth records, if she was born locally that is.

There's a Alice Partridge married at Viney Hill to Cuthbert George Thorn in 1924. She is 28 so her birth would be 1896 - seems close enough. Witness Tom Partridge. Both fathers deceased.

Hi, thanks Peter, yes I did give the wrong birth date initially. Are there any photos that you know of? She may have gone to Viney Hill school also, I’m trying to find out, however my great grandfather lived in Yorkley and I believe my Nan lived with Cuthbert (actually known as George) in Yorkley. So it may well be Yorkley school records I need to check. It’s a photo of any kind of her I’m looking for. She passed away when my Nan was 1.

Yorkley seems more likely. There's one photo on Sungreen (https://www.sungreen.co.uk/Yorkley/yorkley_school_1905.html) from 1905 but no names attached - unless you can see a familial look in anyone.

Yorkley school still exists so you could contact them to see if they have an archive.

Re Peter Robinson's suggestion, I suspect any old School Admissions records are now at Glos Archives. Searching seems to confirm they hold various records from Alice's time relating to Yorkley School.
