As Tirley is on the River Severn - there is around that time, baptisms of children : father: Thomas , mother, Mary, WAGSTAFF

John - 1737
Thomas - 1739
Mary - 1744
Edward - 1746

may be these are siblings and Thomas was a boatman and went up and down the Severn.

What family names did Sarah and her husband name their children?

John WATTS aged 21 a Yeoman of Hasfield, and Sarah WAGGSTAFFE aged 22, residence of Tirley, were married by Licence/Bond - (FOD records)

Wagstaffe of variations of ..... doesn't appear in too many Forest of Dean records. There are a few in Hartpury, including a Thomas Wagstaffe born 1709.

There is a Sarah Wagstaff christened 16 December 1736, Hanbury, Worcestershire, parents John and Sarah

Can only assume the family were involved in sailing up and down the River Severn etc. and were married by Licence as they weren't in a place too long.

Thank you for your reply.

I will keep searching.

Through in-laws I discovered that there are Wagstaffs in Stourbridge. Perhaps my Wagstaff ancestors came from there.

I've had my DNA processed and now one of my in-laws will get hers processed and see if we have a common match with Stourbridge Wagstaffs.
