I am the great-great granddaughter of William (or Walter) Oakey and Laura Oakey. I have found no information on them on multiple websites. Their children were Charlie Webster Oakey (my great-grandfather), John Pinkney Oakey and William Viniard Oakey. The children were all born in different counties in North Carolina, but I can find no record of William/Walter and Laura. Some Ancestry contributors have named their place of birth as North Carolina, but I can find no records to support this. William/Walter was born somewhere around 1830-1835 and Laura may have been born somewhere around 1840. I am hoping to break through this brick wall and find my Oakey relatives.

Presumably you believe there is some connection to the Forest of Dean. Could you explain what the connection is?
