I am trying to find the wife of George Whitson who had a son James Whitson (James was born 1845-1904)and married Tabitha Herbert

Hi slowhands, I have checked with associated thread. The James on this thread has parents Matthew and Hannah. Although the birthdate of James is similar, on James Marriage his father is George and was an Engine Tender. They lived at Littledean Hill. James married Tabitha Herbert on Jan 8.

yes I was aware of that - just suggesting that others do not spend a lot of time replicating the work already done.....
rather than start a fresh thread it can help to update an existing one :-)
BTW
Matthew Witson from Littledean , Engine driver / tender seems a reasonable fit -- given the error on the marriage record or its transcription - I think it worthy of further investigation.

Thanks for the info, I do not have any dates, places, on George Whitson, I am quite in the dark on this one, the only information I have, he was listed as James Whitson,s father on James's marriage documents.

So where is Camomile Green please chaps/chapesses?

Thanks this could be a contender, the family did live in and around the Forest of Dean area, will have to do some more research. I am still looking for his wife though to complete a family tree.

Having second thoughts on George 65, because he would have been 69 when he fathered James. (although it cannot be ruled out.) He may have had a much younger wife
