Joseph Jordan 1812 (General)
I have the records for this man below, but cannot seem to find a suitable John Jordan.
Joseph says on his marriage certificate that his father was a farmer, yet the only John Jordan I find buried in Huntley seems to be too old.
There also seems to be two brothers called Robert and George born in Huntley to a Ann who is classed as a widow.
Help please

The GFHS Marriage Index states that John JORDAN was a widower so the entry on this site should be checked.

And there is a Will at Gloucester Record Office for John JORDAN who died in 1813. This is the entry from the online index at http://ww3.gloucestershire.gov.uk/genealogy/Search.aspx

Hi Mike
Some good info here to look at.
Do you think these could be Josephs brothers??

There is a George Jordan marriage entry(1836 Ruardean) which does not give the fathers name.
Could be the same person
Pete
Joseph Jordan 1812
Distinct possibility that they are brothers given that Ann is described as a Widow.
Robert died young:
Date: 28 AUG 1816
First Name: ROBERT
Surname: JORDAN
Age: 9M
Parish: HUNTLEY 1813-1850
Place of Abode: HUNTLEY
Not found George anywhere. The marriage to Sarah JOHNSON does not fit. The 1851 Census entry tells us that this George was born about 1814/15 in Ruardean. This is the most likely baptism:
Year: 1816
Month: Mar

Mike
Joseph Jordan 1812
I have now found George.
In 1841 he is at the New Inn, Hentland, Herefordshire aged 20 and described as a Tailor and not born in the County.
In 1851 Census he is at Peterstow, near Ross on Wye. Married to Eliza b 1816 Hentland, Herefordshire. One son - John aged 1 born Peterstow. Also Sarah Thomas aged 5 described as Wife's daughter.
This is the marriage:
Marriages Dec 1849
Jordan George Ross 26 382
Thomas Eliza Ross 26 382
Eliza Thomas baptised 27 July 1816 at Hentland. Parents John Thomas and Ann.
Also found him in 1861 and 1871 Census.
Here is 1881 Census entry which has birthplace incorrect:
Household:
Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation
George JORDON Head M Male 63 Hentland, Hereford, England Tailor
Eliza JORDON Wife M Female 66 Hentland, Hereford, England
William THOMAS Grand Son U Male 15 Peterstow, Hereford, England Farm Laborer
Source Information:
Dwelling Winters Cross
Census Place Peterstow, Hereford, England
Family History Library Film 1341623
Public Records Office Reference RG11
Piece / Folio 2584 / 75
Page Number 7
1891 Census shows Eliza as a Widow.
This would appear to be registration of death of George:
Deaths Jun 1882
Jordan George 65 Ross 6a 283
and this is death of Eliza:
Deaths Mar 1893
Jordan Eliza 75 Ross 6a 324

Joseph Jordan 1812
Hi
I eill study the info and get back to you
Thanks
Regards
Pete
Joseph Jordan 1812
I should have said that George gives his place of birth as Huntley in 1851, Taynton in 1861 and Huntley in 1871 Census.
The Census returns indicate that he had 2 children - John born c1850 and Elizabeth born c1852
