Elizabeth HAILE mystery

by elfield, Sunday, August 17, 2008, 12:00 (6013 days ago)

I have been every whichway on site. Elizabeth Haile married Charles Playster (Plaisted) in 1860 at Drybrook. They later emigrated to NZ. Charles died in Lyttleton 1879 - no record of Elizabeth's death.
Charles & Elizabeth had a son George baptised 1866 Westbury-on-Severn.
Can find Elizabeth Haile born to George (carpenter) & Sally Haile in 1841 (baptised Longhope). Tried advanced search with parents names - nothing comes up - not even Elizabeth. Sally can be a derivative of Sarah - that works - but no Elizabeth, so maybe wrong. There is a George Haile who married Sarah Young at Abenhall in 1835. He was a carpenter.
Maybe these are all leaps of faith I'm taking. Is there anyone with this family in their tree who could help out please?

Elizabeth Jane HAILE 1841 Cricklade

by elfield, Monday, August 18, 2008, 10:43 (6012 days ago) @ slowhands

Thankyou Slowhands. I had found Elizabeth's baptism & marriage certs, but couldn't get any further. The advanced search didn't want to work - or maybe it was what I was doing with it :) Your census returns are very helpful - so, again, thanks.
The Charles Plaisteds must have left during the agricultural downturn in the 1860's/70s - like many others, they went to NZ. Don't have the year or vessel, yet - but when I do, will post on the Emigration Board.
Linda
P.S. My husband's family.
