Ancestors of Elizabeth Hawker

by Ian Jackson, Tuesday, September 02, 2008, 20:14 (5997 days ago)

I'm looking for further information about Elizabeth Hawker my Gt gt gt grandmother. I think she had a brother Robert.
She was born 1800 and married Daniel Jackson in October 1819. They had 4 children; William: Diana:John and Daniel.
Diana b 1837 is the one that I have been unable to trace any further.
Calling all Hawkers!!

A Thomas Hawker, baptised in 1805 fathered a son in 1828 with Anne Nash (born 1810), daughter of Richard Nash (abt 1779-1864) and Mary James (abt 1783-1854). This child, Robert Hawker Nash, married Louisa Sambrook and had nine children.

It's unclear to me whether this Thomas Hawker was a close relative of your Elizabeth Hawker as they appear to have different parents (see below)

Ancestors of Elizabeth Hawker

by plumes, Friday, September 05, 2008, 17:50 (5994 days ago) @ Matt Nash

I believe Elizabeth Hawker 1803 and Thomas Hawker 1805 were first cousins, Elizabeth's father was Philip Hawker, baptised Lydney 12 September 1780 (wife Diana Tingle) and Thomas' father was Robert Hawker, his older brother, baptised 02 May 1778, also at Lydney (wife Hester Brain). Their parents were John Hawker and Elizabeth ?OAKEY.
I have a special interest as Thomas Hawker was my g-g-grandfather.

Plumes;
Thanks for that, it all seems to fit and to confirm.
Elizabeths parents were Philip and Diana (Dinah?)Tingle.
Philip had a brother Robert who married Hester Brain.
Philip and Roberts parents were John and Elizabeth ?
Thomas is Roberts son? therefore a cousin of my gt.gt.gt. grandmother.
What does that make us??????

thanks again

A bit late in the day I know Ian, as I have not been monitoring the Forum lately, but I could not resist working out our relationship - according to the Wikipedia Cousins Chart we are 5th cousins once removed.

Slowhands-you are unbelievable-what a magnificent site.
Can I in any way get a list of burials at Cinderford St Johns as it seems most of the Jackson family were from the parish?
I also have an inkling that we might be related to the butchers in Cinderford.

Diana JACKSON 1837 Ruspidge

by Ian Jackson, Wednesday, September 03, 2008, 20:54 (5996 days ago) @ Dewey

That could very well be; thanks for that.
Does the marriage entry give her parents names?
It should read Daniel and Elizabeth Jackson.
I'm getting there slowly and have over 450 names on "the tree".
Mainly doing it for my two grand daughters who coincidentally have been named Anna and Elizabeth-old family names now I see.
regards
