Martin & Bella Brown, Coleford 1910
Has anyone got any clues/information about Martin & Bella Brown. Bella's maiden name was Jones. She was daughter of John & Susan Jones of the Scowles. John was a tiler & plaster but also ran the Nags Head Inn, Whitecliff in 1891.
Bella's brother Wybourn Jones was a blacksnith and came to Harborne Birmingham. He was known there as Bill Jones.
Wybourn Jones was my great grandfather. My gran was named after 2 of his sisters Ethel & Bella.
My mom was born in 1934 and from an early age to her late teens regularly went to a newsagents on Barnes Hill. It was run by Edith Brown, sister Alice Brown & a brother.
She remembers her aunt Edith Jones being taken fairly regularly by Edith Brown to the Forest of Dean. These trips from Birmingham to Coleford (I think) WERE BY TAXI!!!
No-one ever said that the Jones & Browns were related, never mind explain the link. But they must have been.
Anyway thanks to this wonderful website I've found out today that Wybourn's sister married a Brown. So are Edith, Alice, "brother" their children?
All advice would be greatly welcome
Paul
