Looking for records of Sarah Anne and Margaretta POWELL (General)
Hi
My 3x great grandparentsJames and Ann POWELL were married at Micheldean in 1811. They had a son William in 1813 at Coleford. It seems (from the parish records)they also had two daughters(Sarah Anne and MARGARETTA) in 1839 but I can`t find any more records for the girls. I`ve tried freebmd with no result.Any help would be appreciated

Looking for records of Sarah Anne and Margaretta POWELL
Hi
I forgot to say that they were baptised at Christchurch on Nov 14th living at Berry Hill, father James a collier
Sylvia
I apologise for missing the "t" out of Micheldean
Sarah Ann Powell
It's not a hanging offence Sylvia!
Speculation time. It's possible that Sarah did not marry?

It's a big gap. Are you sure it is the same family? I can't find the girls on the 1841 Census Index on this site.
Sarah Ann Powell
Hi Chris,
It is for an ex-teacher, you know!
Anyway thanks for replying but I`m not certain she`s the one as there was a SarahAnne POWELL living at Lane End in the 51 census who was written as "illegitimate"
There were so many POWELLs living in Coleford and Mitcheldean
I`ve tried to sort them out but its difficult as there seemed to have been several couples named James and Ann but I`m as certain as can be that Sarah Anne and Margaretta were the children of my 2x great grandfather William POWELL`s parents. The advanced search doesn`t reveal any children in between William and the elusive pair of girls. I did think of stillbirths but the baptisms seem to rule this out I notice that the burial was at Christchurch where Sarah Anne and Margaretta were baptised.
best wishes and thanks again
Sylvia
