William Braine - Franklyn Expedition (General)

Just wondered if anyone out there has ever made a connection between the Brains of the Forest of Dean and William Braine 1814c - 1846 who perished on the 1845 Franklyn Expedition to find the North West Passage. A fascinating story surrounds this expedition but I have, so far, been unable to find out much about William other than he enlisted in Yeovil, Somerset at Christmas in 1833 as a Private, 3rd class. As it's very much a FOD surname I'm sure there must be a link somehow.
