Rose Brotherton/Yarnold (General)

by Tropical, Saturday, January 03, 2009, 10:37 (5875 days ago)

Hello all,

I have a brickwall, my gt grandmother is very elusive.
I was lucky enough to be able to search the beta of 1911 census last month. and found my gt grandmother and my gt grandfather in London

Going by the 1911 census Rose/Rosina/Roseline Brotherton/Yarnold was born circ 1877 Forest of Dean.

On her (1st) marriage cert 1894 Bethnal Green, London (the only one i have)Rose married Alfred Pears/ce Marks, Rose's father is Henry Brotherton, and her witness is Alice Brotherton.

If anyone can help me find her birth/baptism or any other info before she moved to London and her 1st marriage, i will be most grateful.

Pam

Rose Brotherton/Yarnold

by Tropical, Saturday, January 03, 2009, 23:01 (5875 days ago) @ Tropical

Thank you Slowhands & Paul

I do have the marriage cert of Rose & Alfred Pearse Marks 1894, Bethnal Green London and where they was in 1901 census

Source Citation: Class: RG13; Piece: 268; Folio: 110; Page: 38.

It was such a sad case as Alfred Pearse Marks died in 1901 not long after the 1901 census was done. In 1908 Rose had shipped her son's Walter & Alfred to Mrs Birt (Home Children) as orphans, and they both went to Canada, i have all the info on Walter & Alfred and their birth certs. Still don't know what happened to Rose & Alfred's other son John Henry Marks (i have birth cert)

Rose then had a further 2 children Phyllis Marks b1904 St Pancras father suppose to be Alfred Marks on birth cert, Rose Brotherton b1906 Paddington, on birth cert father's name is Alfred Brotherton deceased, and for Rose's name it said Rose Brotherton formerly Yarnold no mention of Marks surname ?

Then Rose meet Mr Charles Stone bc1871 Arundel and they was together in the 1911 census with Phyllis, Rose and another son Leonard Stone bc 1908 Paddington.
as far as i know Rose & Charles had another 2 children Gladys Ellen Stone bAug 1911 (my grandmother) and Sydney Stone bApr 1914 on the birth certs of Gladys & Sydney mothers name is Rose Stone formerly Brotherton. I can't find a marriage between Charles & Rose, even though they say they have been married 8 years on the 1911 census, which i know is not true.

My guess is that, Charles did not want to take on Walter,Alfred and John Marks so Rose had to give them up and send them to Mrs Birt home children.

I don't know when Charles Stone died nor do i know when Rose died, but story goes that Rose did marry again, to whom i don't know.

Sorry for the long post

Pam
