James MEREDITH 1819 (General)
Once again, congratulations and thanks to you, Slowhands! The original 1851 census document could indeed read "Meredith". The enumerator had a different way of marking different dwellings and families within dwellings.
My hypothesis now is that Sarah and James "married" and the name of Meredith was taken on by Elizabeth.
Now to find their "marriage" - I just wonder how prevalent co-habitation and "pretend" marriage was...........can't find anything yet on BMD or the parish records.
