Hello
Do you know who Albert Stokes' parents were?

my suspicion is that he is from a BRAIN or GRINDLE line - which would point towards Collafield and Littledean Hill. However so far I have not been able to "fit" him in.

From my research for a STOKES friend he is ALBERT HIRIAM STOKES, christened 13 Feb 1886, St Mary de Lode Gloucester to John STOKES and SUSAN BRAIN
SUSAN BRAIN was the daughter of Charles BRAIN and Mary GRINDLE and she married John STOKES at St Nicholas, Gloucester on 22 SEPT 1877

Hi
Albert Hiram Stokes was my Grandad. He was one of nine children to John and Susan Stokes (nee Brain). He was brought up, however, in Batley, West Yorkshire by an auntie and uncle (Dennis and Amelia Herberts). He married my Grandma, Annie Cape, and had three children - Evelyn, Phyllis and Dennis Herbert Stokes (my Dad). Dennis had four children, David, Wendy and Pamela (twins) and myself (Stephen). Unfortunately, I was only five when my Grandad died, so my memories of Albert are very sparse. Strangely, my son Tim now lives in Cheltenham, Near Gloucester and he has three sons of his own. My part of the "Stokes" family tree, therefore, has moved from Gloucester to West Yorkshire and back again during the course of the last hundred plus years. I will be happy to provide further information upon request.
