Hearts of Oak (formerly New Inn in Drybrook). Moore. (General)

I'm looking for information or maybe early photos from before 1900 of the Hearts of Oak pub in Drybrook, formerly the New Inn. One of my ancestors George Moore (born about 1837 and married to a Mary Roberts with kids Mary Jane (Jane), John, Tryphena Ann, Albert, Bertha, Hubert, Edith, Clara (my great great grandmother) and Allan)supposedly ran this New Inn (as a Inn Keeper before and after 1881 and 1891)for a number of years. I'm wondering if there are any early photos of him or the Inn back in those dates, or any interesting history or anecdotes of it and/or George. I have already found a modern photo of it on the net. Emailed pictures would be great if anyone has them on a computer already (but probably a long shot).
George's parents were John and Mary Moore. Clara married William Rawlings (from Ruardean)and had 13 kids I believe.

it was in the early 1970's that the New Inn became the Hearts of Oak..

I have access to a few of the True Heart, and one on Drybrook Rd c 1920 showing New Inn yard, before Overbrook Garage arrived.

New Inn, The Cross (Hearts of Oak) GL17 9EE

The New Inn was renamed the Hearts of Oak some years ago and is still trading. The pub is set back from the road at the centre of the village. Not to be confused with the True Heart which is no longer a pub. The Hearts of Oak is a nicely proportioned rendered building with a central door flanked by two bay windows.

Hi Belinda

I realise that this was an old post, however I am the great great grandson of Bertha Moore, George Moore's daughter. It would be great to share information if you are interested?

Thanks

Luke

George Moore.

Hi Luke,

Nice to meet you. Nice to meet a long distance relative. I would love to share information, that would be great. All I have on Bertha at the minute (must go back to my research on her) is that she was born about 1869 in Plump Hill and married Nimrod Stephens (born about 1863) and had two children - Frank Stephens (b1893 Drybrook) and Lily Stephens (b.1896 Drybrook). I have a lot on the Moore family tree which I could send to your email address if you like. Mine is kennedyf73@netspace.net.au).

I am descended from his daughter Clara Moore (1877-1945) who married William Henry Rawlings and had 12 children. One, a daughter Emily Rawlings was my great grandmother who married Bertram Redvers Moore (no relation. His Moore's were from Bristol originally) and they had two children - Clara/Clare Moore and Reginald Moore. Clara/Clare married Ken Hill (my grandparents) who in turn had 3 girls, my mother Christine was one of them. She married Percival Hill and they had me Belinda.

I currently live in Australia with my partner and two kids. I have one old photo of some moores at my grandparents wedding but none appear to be George Moore or any of his kids, just grandkids.

Belinda.
