Dean Heritage Centre - Soudley (General)
The Dean Heritage Centre is located in the pretty valley of Soudley, Gloucestershire, England in the Forest of Dean and exists to record and preserve the unique social and industrial history of the area and its people. The centre comprises the museum itself, a millpond and waterwheel, forester's cottage with garden and animals, art and craft exhibitions and workshops, and trails around the surrounding woodland. In addition, there are picnic tables, barbecue hearths, an adventure playground, a gift shop selling local produce and the Heritage Kitchen, a restaurant providing home-made food.
I have communicated with Janine previously and mentioned to her that as both our organisations are non profit, I am happy for her to give the Dean Heritage Centre a little more exposure by means of this forum.
Both our organisations are involved in the history of the Forest of Dean. Though they are different kinds of history, we both have the same objective of helping the current generation know more about the past generations of people of the Forest.
I've read some glowing reports from people who have visited the Dean Heritage Centre and if there is anybody who would like to share their experience of visiting the centre, it would be nice hear from you.
