Primrose Mine (General)

John Shingles was the owner of Primrose iron mine in the 1880's.

Can anyone tell me where Primrose mine was? I think is would probably be somewhere around Bream.

Some rough ground and masonry remains mark the location of Primrose or Oak pit (SO 5803 0948) .

In 1841 the gale was awarded to Thomas Cheese Davies of Lydney and George Powell of Berry Hill.

Oak Pit was one of the ‘Land’ or shallow iron mines. It produced a small amount of ochre between 1878 and 1902.
