Death Certificate Interpretation (General)

by dwdavis @, Vancouver, Monday, January 26, 2009, 12:35 (5853 days ago)

I have a death certificate for a man who died at Ruardean Hill in 1890.

The cause of death had been detailed in Column 6, however, the physician's name is illegible.

I would like to know the name.

It looks roughly like Dr "?Sarme?tic" MD

Any suggestions would be welcome. I could attach the document to an email if someone thinks they can help.

In 1882 he signed the death certificate of my 2x great grandmother, Jemima ALLAWAY
!n the 1891 census he was listed with an Elizabeth HOLLAWAY(should be ALLAWAY) who was Jemima!s daughter and housekeeper to the doc. There was also another servant Bertha ROBINS born Llanelly Carm. Wales

Hi
Doctor FLETCHER is said to have been involved in a "family mystery"In 1895 my grandmother, Agnes POWELL had a daughter(in Ross workhouse) also called Agnes POWELL(no father recorded) and she was with the family on the 1901 census. By this time Agnes senior had married my grandfather William ALLAWAY . However , when my grandparents moved to Monmouthshire(1905)Agnes junior`s place had been taken by a Gladys.Although she went by the surname ALLAWAY she was in fact the daughter of Thomas and Caroline POWELL of Upton Court farm and her name was really Gladys Kathleen POWELL born 1893 at Upton Court farm. I`ve not been able to find any records for Agnes, junior subseqent to the 1901 census

Another possibility is Dr. SEARANCKE of Mitcheldean. His christian names were Niccoll Frederick. He carried out the post-mortem on my great grandmother Mary Ann NICHOLLS who was found drowned in Fairplay Pond in 1915. Unfortunately her death certificate does not bear his signature.
