I have a cigarette case which was presented to my late father probably in the 1950s or 60s, along with his name are the initials L W H F. Does anyone know what these stand for?

Sorry, I meant to say L might stand for Lydney and he did play hockey so I don't know if that could be the H. It wasn't to do with his work.

Probably no help, but acronyms.thefreedictionary.com lists LWHF as

I did the obvious, Google LWHF. Things did come up in association. Left Wing, Hockey Federation, Lydney and Wales. Not an answer, but might activate someones memories.

Yes, very imaginative and funny but I can't believe it! Slowhands doesn't instantly know the answer, I thought you knew everything. OK so it isn't exactly a family history question although it is my family history. I keep thinking it is hockey related but all the letters don't seem to fit. I know your Haulage idea was a joke but actually he did work for BRS at one time in the office though and he was a shop steward in the Union at Pine End.

Light hearted as my suggestions appear (!) it would not suprise me for several of the words to appear in the solution to this puzzle :-)
