John Close, Ship Carpenter (General)

My ancestor John Close is described on his marriage register as a Ship Carpenter. Living in Hudnalls, St. Briavels he would have been close enough to work at Brockweir where I believe there was some shipbuilding taking place. Any information on Brockweir and Shipbuilding would be welcome.
