married a john meek in thornbury 1681 and there children start from 1681-1687 in ruardean and then they moved to hartpury and had 5 children there 1689-1700?there is no death recorded for them there so could they have moved back to ruardean? Any information would be most greatful.

Hi Lee....not an awful lot of help, but I have her as Elinor [or Elianor] Thurston too...married 4th July 1681 in Thornbury - I don't have much else except four of their children and the fact that John Meek [e]died in 1695....perhaps others have more information than us??

Could this fit with this record from the Parish Records (though Eleanor's surname is different) using latin versions of the names etc.
I think "viduum" means widower, "solut" = single. So John Meek was married before - any children I wonder?
There's also an Eleanor Meek buried in Upton Bishop on 21Aug1725 which might fit though that's stretching things a bit. Another Elionar was buried in Upton Bishop in 1694 (as a widow) which doesn't fit with the possible date for the death of John Meek (1695).

Hi colin my latin is not so good but i am not to sure about that information,
there are 2 elinor meeks died 1716,1722 in ruardean the 1716 notes are daughter of jeremy so i will have to trace her father to see if he has the same name or he could just be another meek, thanks again.

further information jeremiah meek is the father to elinor who died 1716 so the
1722 burial is possibly the correct one.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but there is a Jeremy Meeke son of John & Elinor baptised at Ruardean on 17 August 1679 so I think this is a different couple to the ones married in Thornbury in 1681.

By the way I note that John buried 1696 left a will which could be helpful if he is the right John.

Hi graham,
Jeremy was the only one I did not know about. John's will, you mentioned might be very useful, do you know where I can view it?
Thanks again,
Lee

If you follow this link http://ww3.gloucestershire.gov.uk/genealogy/Search.aspx you will be able to search all the wills held by Gloucester Archives. If you are not able to get to Gloucester I think you can order a copy of the will from the Archives for a small fee.
