In an earlier locked thread headed Meek Meek Family Tree, Marion noted that William Meek 1721, son of John Meek & Clare Bridgeman married Alice Pearce and had a son Joseph in 1750.
I think it more likely that this William married Sarah (don't know surname). There are 5 baptisms for children born to William & Sarah between 1743 & 1756, including 2 named Bridgeman the first born 1748 died in 1756, the second was born in 1756, other children include William & Sarah.

Could be this one, which is Welsh Bicknor (not too far from Ruardean) - dates are about right - but on the other hand there are 7 baptisms in Ruardean for William / Alice over a similar period! So which William is which?

Thanks for the marriage info Colin. My money is definitely on William and Sarah, given that his mother's name is Clare nee Bridgeman and he named 2 of his children Bridgeman (one died) The 1742 marriage fits nicely with the first child William baptised 14 March 1743.

William's elder brother George (baptised 15/08/1714) also seems to have been married in Welsh Bicknor 12/11/1738, wife Margaret Teague (baptised 08/03/1710?). They seem to have had 9 children (1740 to 1762 -- though this is a surprisingly long period of births, so I am a little skeptical about the last couple maybe) all baptised in Ruardean.

[My great great grandfather Henry Smart 1827 was, I believe, the great grandson of George Meek.]

This span of children is not unusual, I have a number of families that span 20 years, indeed my 4 times great grandparents had 11 children over 21 years, the real snag was that this couple were called Richard & Mary Marfell, their first son Richard Marfell married a Mary and their first child was born just after the last of his parents, so of course the baptisms to Richard & Mary Marfell had to be double checked.
I have the baptism of Margaret Teague as 7 Sep 1718 Ruardean, parents Edward Teague & Elinor Roberts. Do you have any grounds for assuming the baptism was 8 Mar 1710 to Thomas Teague & Margaret. It really makes no difference to me, but I would like to have it right. I do have 357 Roberts in my Family Tree but no other associations with this line.
I have 35 Smart's in my family tree but no Henry. As George Meek 1714 is one of my 6 times great grand parents, we will be related and I would be interested to know more of your link to George Meek 1714. Perhaps you could contact me by email, you can do this by clicking on the envelope icon on this posting. You may be aware that George Meek's brother John Meek 1709 married Elizabeth Smart 1711.

I too have Margaret Teague daughter of Edward Teague/Eleanor Roberts as being born in 1718 and marrying George Meek in 1738.
