Which house did X live in ? (General)
I have found out what village my great grandfather lived, Is there any way i can found out what house?
Which house did X live in ?
If you are lucky from the census data you may get enough information to identify a property. Often you can predict from the "route" taken by the enumerator where the property was in relation to other properties , like Inns, Chapels etc.
A Tithe map may help.
Or Title deeds to property, if your relative owned the property.

Which house did X live in ?
Hi Sarah - I've done what slowhands suggests and attempted to follow the enumerators path on the day of the census. I had all the named places and the desciption from the first page of the census, if you look you will see something like "Part of Pontshill, lane leading to Lea Bailey" and although not many homes were named it might say "last house at end of lane leading to Lea Bailey" and some place names "Handley Cottage" this is where I was searching and I found most of the houses my family lived in, or a group of houses, and photos of the area do help people who live elsewhere get a feel for the places their family came from.
If you are really lucky you might find old photos of the village or street in the photos here or somewhere like http://www.sungreen.co.uk/ The Frith Collection is worth a look - http://www.francisfrith.com/ Use the nearest town of any size for your search and hope that there are photos of places nearby. I look at old photos of Monmouth and think "My great-grandparents might be walking up that street, that's good enough for me. Remember enummerators were walking, so they took the shortest route, there is no guarantee that they are listing households in any true order. Cheers fred
Just thought, if you're not local then it won't be that easy.
