Fletcher Family - Woolaston (General)

by swool, Saturday, April 11, 2009, 07:57 (5778 days ago)

I have managed - with great thanks to this site - to trace my Great, great, great, great, great Grandfather - Edmund Fletcher and his family who lived in Woolaston. Edmund was born in 1761 and died in 1837. He was married to Martha Richards (born 1771) and they were married in Woolaston on 16th May 1787. I am now trying to go back further but am finding it very, very hard! Just wondering if anyone has any further details of my family? Sarah Woolcott.

Sarah

If Kathy in the States hasn't already replied, I've a file on the Fletchers I did with her!

We worked out the Fletchers moved to Woolaston from Tidenham, and we had two earlier generations:
John Fletcher
His children and baptism dates:
Mary 8 February 1718
Betty 18 February 1720
Sarah 24 February 1722
John 11 April 1725 burial 24 March 1727
William 5 March 1726
John 6 September 1730 (Edmund's father)
Susana 25 February 1731
William 4 February 1733

18 April 1759 Marriage John Fletcher and Jane Morgan (Tidenham register)

Let me know if I can help further.

Dear Joanne,

I am Kathy from USA Biddy mentioned. She e-mailed me to alert me to your query. I am descended from Edmund and Martha as well - son John is my line. Any information I might have that you need, please let me know. More than willing to share information.

Dear Joanne, In my excitement, I forgot to mention that Edmund and Martha had a son John, brother to Joseph and he is my direct line. Sorry for the confusion. Kathy.

Are they also connected to Aylburton? My great grandfather, William Hopkins had a cousin Emma (born Lydney 1836) who married an Edmund Fletcher on 22 May 1862. Both Emma and Edmund are said to be from Aylburton on the marriage record on this site.

They migrated to NZ (as did my great grandfather) and live not far from me. I was in the same class at school as Lester (one of their great grandchildren) and neither of us knew we were related...

Quick answer is that Edmund (son of Edmund and Martha) moved to Aylburton married Sarah Marshall (think she came from) Newnham and brought up a family there.
