Thank you for your reply. The 1901 census recrds another Eva Williams, age 6 at the time, daughter of James and Selina Williams living in Aberdare at the time of the census. James and his daughter Eva were born in Monmouth. The Eva Annie I am looking for lived in Park End, FoD in 1914/1915.

Sorry the Aberdare lass is from Risca.... not Monmouth town

as far as I can tell the 1911 census transcription is not yet online to cover the Parkend / Clearwell area

As Risca is in Monmouthshire it could well be they refer to Monmouth the county rather than the town. In the 1901 census ther are two families with an Eva of the right age. I need that bit of info. to point me in the right direction,ie, the correct family in order to advance. The Eva Annie I am looking for lived in Park End, FoD in 1914/15, died and was buried there in 1916.

The Eva Annie I am looking for lived in Park End, FoD in 1914/15, died and was buried there in 1916.

Good luck with your search, my view is that the Eva registered in Monmouth registration district March Quarter 1896 is very probably the EVA living in Gorsty Knoll, West Dean in 1901 and likely to be the Eva Annie of Parkend around 1915.

The Eva from Risca ( Aberdare 1901) should be found in the Newport Mon Registration district , not Monmouth.

The data in the 1911 census may help narrow the search, and the data from the birth registered in Monmouth may also narrow teh search.

A baptism record does not appear in our database (yet) which may indicate a non conformist family.

as Slowhands says Parkend will be registered in Monmouth as West Dean, and I'm told the 1911 Welsh census will be available in the summer

Thank you for your email. It seems to me that I need to obtain a birth certificate for Eva Annie or her death certificate on which, hopefully, her parents would be named. I could then determine the right family. As I know the place and date of Eva's burial I have applied for her death certificate even though I had to guess the date on which she died. I have said the 24th. Dec. 1916 and hope for the best. An Eva Annie Williams of Park End, FoD gave birth to my mother in Cardiff on the 8th. August 1915, father unnamed. I am therefore searching for my grandmother. My mother died in 1970.

Thank you for your interest. You may well be correct. I am wondering if there was an inquest on Eva Annie who died aged only 20 years. I would like to find out. Any suggestions?

If the death is registered in Gloucester, then she may have been in Hospital ; there may have been an inquest perhaps "The Citizen" newspaper archive is a place to look.

I just posted that 1911 is not available yet, but then looking at a file I see I have details of Broadwell for 1911, so West Dean became part ot Gloucestershire again, sorry about that. Fred
