Mary Furber 1836/7 (General)

by awoodman, Sunday, May 03, 2009, 22:46 (5756 days ago)

I am getting very confused over who my realtive Mary's parents were. I have searched her marriage to a Josiah Edwards (1834) and that gives her fater's name as William. However, when I search baptisms I can only find a Mary with parents John and Mary, so I am confused as to who is who. Both Josiah and Mary were living in Coleford when they married. Can anyone help?

I have just viewed the 1851 census on genes reunited and I found a Mary Furber aged 14 with Parents Willam (aged 47, born coleford) and Mary (aged 37?, born Ledbury)and siblings Joseph (aged 16, born Coleford) and William (aged 7, born Coleofrd) but I can't find a birth registration for Joseph or William in the right years. This is making me even more confused and I was wondering if anyone could help me sort out this mess.

Hi

In my tree I have an Elizabeth Furber born Coleford 1830 of the same parents as Mary. Elizabeth married a Thomas Cullimore at St Briavels in 1849. I believe Slowhands suggestion they were non conformists is correct, I realise this isn't much help. I haven't found any baptisms for their family either except a non conformist entry for 1836 for Mary just states Newland can be found in d2722/13 at GRO . This definately states parents William & Mary and is likely a Baptist birth entry.

William Furber is buried Coleford Cemetery 2 Oct 1890.
