Not immediately apropos your enquiry, but there are Grail's in my wider family. My Grandfather had a sister, Kate married to George Henry Grail (1868-1944). His father was Edward Grail of Woolaston, probably born 1840's.

Hi gallois,
I'm not going to be much help yet, but my Gt grandmother was a Grail born at Aylburton, just down the road from Woolaston. All the Grail's in the forest are linked from Henry Grail born 1791 in Wiltshire & Mary born 1792 also Wiltshire, they moved with their children to the Alvington. I do not have a Matilda in my tree & I think Slowhands could be right, that Matilda could be Kate, as some of this family moved to Abertillery Wales. I don't have a husband for Kate, but will try & find one. Do you have a marriage certificate for Matilda?

There's another Eason in your family too.

George Henry Grail (1868-1944) married (1) Mary Ann Lewis (1869-1892). Their children Clifford George (1890-1915) and Mary Emmeline (Cissie) born 1892. Cissie married Rex Eason. I assume Mary Ann died in childbirth of Cissie. I have'nt checked my notes but I think the BMD's were same Quarter, same registration District 1892.

I have the marriage certificate for Matilda which shows she married my 2Xuncle Charles at St Peters in the parish of Aberystruth on May 7th 1900. Fathers name William, occ. Plate Layer. Her given age was 20. The witnesses were my grandfather, Harry/Henry and Mary Jane Grail = perhaps a sister? Charles was a widower at this time and I have no records of his first wife or any issue. On the 1901 census they are living in Six Bells, Abertillery and have no children yet. I am hoping, through the Grails, to find descendants of Charles.

Greetings,

William THOMPSON is descendant of the Newland/Redbrook THOMPSON and COSTER families. The families migrated from Newland to both Bitton, GLS and Publow/Pensford, SOM, early 1700s, as the copper mills opened. By the mid 1800s the mills closed and we have more migration believed to be for work. We know some lines went to Wales (my line went to Selly Oak, nr Bham).

Here's William Thompson and brother James, in the 1851 Census, in Publow with his Widowed mother. William bap 7 Jun 1835, s/o 1809 George Bush THOMPSON / abt 1814 Sarah BROOKMAN.

Hi,

Checked FreeBMD for the births of the children of 1835 William/Mary (maybe GAY) and they all fit the names/ages/locations in the censuses. Meaning, there's an 1871 Mary, 1873 Laura and 1876 Mary.

Perhaps this is the Mary Jane who was b 1874? Don't recognize her father, 1852 William.

I see from the 1891 Censu William & Harriet had 8 children, I can only find 3 baptisms for John, Eliza and Beatrice. Also I can only find 2 who married Joseph and Beatrice.

Also, I have found another child, Eliza born 1872, and wonder why see is not listed on the census.

I just wonder if the spelling of Grail is the answer to why I can't find baptism or marrieage reocrds.

Can someone confirm this William is the Son of Jane

Can any one spread some light on this.
