John MORSE m Sarah WATTS - Berkeley 1767 (General)

Yes I am still trying to track down ggg grandpa's baptism and marriage, but I have changed tack!

On Scribe's Alcove there is this baptism:

NAME: George Morse BAPTISED: 31 Jan 1775 at Berkeley

FATHER: John
ABODE: Halmore

The date fits in with the 1773-1776 birth of my George.

I have also found this marriage:

MARRIAGE: 30 Jun 1767 at Berkeley

GROOM BRIDE
NAME: John Morse Sarah Watts
STATUS: Bachelor Spinster
ABODE: Lidney, co. Gloucester Berkeley

WITNESSES: George Watts, Wm Turner

You will notice that the groom's abode is Lydney.

There were Morse's in the Berkeley area, but the only John I can find of about the right date (1740s?) died at about four months of age. So my question is, does anyone know of a John & Sarah Morse in the Forest area?

I have also obtained a copy of a marriage between a George Morse and Ann Clark (of this parish) which took place at St James, Bristol on 27th January 1807. Witnesses were Thomas Clark and Elizabeth Clark (Ann had siblings by that name). The date does fit in with the birth of my George & Ann's first child in 1808. Unfortunately the record does not show the father's names so I still cannot tell if this is the right marriage or not. Would anyone like to ruminate on this one please?

Thanks
Chris
