Hi Chris

One thing I have to be careful of is the Shillams in that area all originate from the Tetbury area.
Have not found Sarah on the 1861 census yet.

Thanks for the help

Hi Paul

Phoebe is listed with her Grandparents in Woolaston, she later married William Thorn (a Blacksmith). He is the Blacksmith of the Blacksmith Arms Alvington

My Shillams are from Woolaston. I have them as far back as 1798.

Slowhands you are on the right ones as Alfred is in my tree via George Lodge Shillam.

Slowhands

Great help, a defo frustrating little devil. I am wondering if she died because it seems fuuny to leave Phoebe with her Grandparents for so long, unless she was either deported or in a lunatic assylum.

William JAMES 1822/23 Parkend/Pillowell ?

by slowhands @, proud of his ancient Dean Forest roots, Wednesday, May 20, 2009, 01:38 (5746 days ago) @ pclark

why she left Phoebe behind

ideas :-

William was not the father
Sarah / William wanted a new life in South Wales
Sarah / William intended for the daughter to join them later when they were settled
etc
etc
etc
