T Roe of Salem Church, Berry Hill, Coleford. (General)

The Second World War Memorial in the Salem Church contains the name of one T Roe. Can anyone please advise which service he entered, Army, Navy or RAF etc please?
I have found details of a Sergeant Thomas Edward Roe of 12 Squadron RAF who died 19/20 February 1944, but cannot find details to prove that this is one and the same person.
