Florence Isabel BALCHIN born Cinderford (General)
Many thanks to slowhands for his sterling efforts.
The abovenamed was born 22.02.1875 and, in respect of her, the vital thing for me now is to know if there is existing a baptismal register (maybe in an existing Baptist Church in Cinderford) that records the baptism of the above named. If there is such a record, it might also include a baptismal record for the boy, William Edward born a sickling on 25.11.1877.
My ultimate objective is to identify the joint mining interest of William BALCHIN and John CROOK that has been said to exist over the years 1871 to 1877 and solely in the name of John CROOK until no later than 1881.
Advice of any such additional information would be greatly appreciated.
Yours sincerely, Bob Balchin.

Instinct says that you have a Non-conformist family as most of the "Anglican" records for that time period have been transcribed. I also wonder at what age the local Baptists were baptising - I have a feeling the child had often reached the age of 7 or 8 before entering the Church - i.e. they understood unlike an infant baptism. By this age the Baptism may have taken place in New Zealand ! These families may have practised Adult baptism ??
Is there a family Bible that has perhaps survived ?
The mining interest may be a a share holding / investment ?
