Surname confirmation - Charles DAVIS (1842) (General)
I have just begun to re-visit records for Charles Davis (1842).
His birth certificate says his mother's maiden name was Carter but his sister's birth certificate says his mother's maiden name was Wilkins.
Both christian names were Sarah.
I have been unable to find a death for Sarah Davis, or a remarriage for Charles Davis.
Is it possible that the 'Carter' birth certificate could be wrong?
Sarah Davis, wife of Charles Davis bricklayer didn't die until 1867, so it seems unlikely that there was a death and remarriage. I am trying to find the birth record for Sarah Davis - baptism August 1847 so I have a birth certificate for a sibling either side of Charles, but I am stuck!!
Thank you in anticipation
