I have no information about Mr Smith but I have a MARY ANN MORGAN in my Family History who is a candidate for your ancestor. My gg aunt ELIZABETH MORGAN had issue MARY ANN MORGAN, father unknown, in Monmouth Union Workhouse on the 13th January 1850. ELIZABETH MORGAN later married WILLIAM CRADOCK on 25th November 1855 in Parkend Chapel: they had nine children.

MARY ANN MORGAN was residing in Pillowell, West Dean, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, with her aunt and uncle HENRY and HANNAH MORGAN (my direct ancestors) at the time of the 1861 census. MARY ANN was 11 years of age, a scholar and born in Monmouth.

I have no further information about MARY ANN MORGAN but would be delighted to discover what became of her.

Chris Morgan
