Help Transcribe Ann & Charlotte LOVE abode (General)

Hi All,

During our visit to Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire last year we visited the Glos. RO and were fortunate to find the 1815 WotonUnderEdge baptism record for my GGGrandmother, Charlotte Love. The sad news is that she was a BC or Bastard Child and we will probably never get past this to find her father. I took a photo of the image and need help with "Abode." I have posted the image on my photopage
http://www.pbase.com/pwberndt/image/115023944
and would appreciate any help. She is the second listing.

We have a reunion this weekend and it would be nice to have the full transcript.

BTW, the other surnames on this sheet are DERRETT, HUNTON or HINTON, 3 WEBB, ANDERSON and HALL.

there were 12 or so mills in Wotton are, one Wollen mill had a name like :-Locumb Well Mill, Wotton

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/GLS/WottonunderEdge/Pigot1830.html
Pigot's Directory of Gloucestershire, 1830

OLDLAND Jos. Woollen Cloth Manufacturer Locumb Well Mill, Wootton

may be spelt differently, but this abode may be Locumb Well

Locombe Place, Wotton-under-edge, Gloucestershire, GL12 7HZ is to the south east of Wotton

the writing looks like Lockin Well or Lochin Well , there was a Larton's Mill nearby in Kilcot.

I think it is either Look in Well or Lock in Well, but may be as scribe heard it. In which case it should 'ell because Wottonians don't like pronouncing their 'W's!

Coombe, W u E

hence .....Locumb Well

or perhaps Low Coombe Well etc etc

Coombe is on the north east side of Wotton...

William Henry HUNTLEY was born 19 Mar 1862 in Wotton-under-Edge, Glos.,
and died 4 Feb 1870 in Locombe Well, Wotton-under-Edge, Glos..

Locombe Place is to the South East of Wotton

I agree with "Lock in Well" and the K further down in "Dyers Brook" looks the same.

Your comment about how the Scribe heard it makes me wonder if there was a scribe or did P.M. Cornwall write this down? I'm under the impression that these are images of the original record; Am I incorrect in that assumption?

Also, Slowhands suggests that it could be something else. Is it possible that over time the names have been changed to represent how they sound when spoken?

Take care and thanks again to all who have replied,

Sorry to confuse you, I meant the original scribe! Either Mr Cornwall or maybe the Clerk?

Cheers
Chris
