1930's Orphanage (General)

Please could anyone help?

I am looking for the name of a childrens home that would have been used in the area in the early 1930's. My relative was put into care from the May Hill area around 1933 and has no memories of the place sent but thought in the early years was sent to Boscombe, and then back to Gloucestershire when they were older. I know this may be a needle in a haystack - but I'm hoping.

Hi Jenny

Not sure, but my Forest family were sent to the George Muller Foundation in Bristol in 1912. http://www.mullers.org/cm/

You can email them with details and theyy will let you know if the children in question were admitted. You can then arrange to have a copy of the file for the children. Cost me £50 a few years back, but well worth it to me.

Hi Simone

Many thanks for the information, it was your earlier message on the board that led me to ask the question. I think that my relative was sent to the South Coast so probably need guidance on how to access the social services records if they existed then. I will e mail the link you provided, you never know what they come up with.

Thanks again

Jenny
