Trying to find my Cousins - Wood JENKINS 1840 Ellwood (General)

Good Morning All

I corresponded with Peter pre his posting.

I have comfirmed Peter's link. I found the suggestion of a link to the Jenkins family of Bream very interesting.

I have never been able to confirm the link between the Jenkins family of Bream and the Jenkins family of Clearwell.

Last night I stumbled across a quite staggering link.

It appears that my William Jenkins b abt 1735 (cal from burial records) was married twice.

By following Peters family back through the Priest family I found a Thomas b 1756 S/O William and Eleanor. Who was this Eleanor?

By chance I completed a search, on IGI, for weddings of William Jenkins abt 1755. I Found a marriage between William and Elenor Aubrey at Cliifford Herefordshire. I have confirmed transport links between the Forest of Dean and Clifford on the Canal history web site.

It would appear that William met his first wife about 1754 either when she came down to Brockweir or when he went upto Clifford.

There is also two sons, Richard born to a William and Eleanor in our transcripts. One buried in 1758 the other baptised some months later in the same year.

I guess Eleanor died between 1758 and 1764. William married Elizabeth Doward in 1764.

Thomas the S/O William and Eleanor went onto marry Sarah Kear at St Briavels in 1756 and settled in Bream. Thomas and Sarah had a son John in 1782. John married Maria Watkins in 1809, they had a daughter Louisa who married into the Preest family in 1843. The rest is covered in the response from Slowhands.

Any help in finding a death/burial record for Eleanor abt 1760 would be appreciated.

Regards

Tony Jenkins
