Non-conformist - 1935 (General)

by kristeenL27 @, Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 08:23 (5657 days ago)

Hi everyone!

I have just searched one of my ancestors on the Gloucestershire Records and there is an entry with the date of 1935 and "Non Conformist".

Can anyone let me know what this means - I understand the meaning of the word Non Conformist, but not what it would mean in this context.

Thank you.

The source/catalog of the record is "non conformist" ( i.e. not C of E)

I cannot see your context but at a guess you are seeing a Baptism and the members of the family

1935 meek albert edward elton Father newland d 2598 4/2 collier Non-conformist

Thank you Slowhands.

You are right - I was looking at the catalog - but didn't understand the non-conformist bit! I presume then you mean that it refers to the familiy's religion?

Also, just out of interest - how did you pull up all that information about child, father and mother from that catalog search?!

Thanks!

Kristeen

In this case a bit of luck, I tried a loose search - using surname and year range, rather than a tight surname and first name plus year range. Sometimes it works !
