James Meek of Cinderford (General)

My father Robert John James Meek(known as James) born Westbury on Severn 1902, died Maesteg 1942,When he died there was a mine that could have been opened had we the money,my sister cannot remember anything more about it,and I was too young to know, so my question is; is there a document or record of mines that I can find out more about it,the Meek Family went to Wales approx 1911. regards Mariane
