What is the date for the 1861 Census in the Forest? (General)

by Karaka @, New Zealand, Sunday, August 16, 2009, 22:42 (5652 days ago)

Thank you for the 1861 Forest Census transcribers.
Is there a way to determine the exact date upon which the 1861 census was taken in the Forest of Dean?
I have never previously been unable find a record in this census for the two family members below.
I have a record of marriage between John Thorn(e)(age 20) and Mary Ann Davis (age 21) at Newnham on 9th April 1861, now assumed to be after the census as the bride uses her married name for the census but her reference (Box 13 Piece 1756 Folio 126 Schedule 140) but places her in a nearby but unknown Newnham locality separate from her wider family.
Where is this Newnham locality?
This 1861 record is important because, her birthplace is unknown and also she and her husband left the forest later in that year after the census for New Zealand but her departure date from England is not recorded in New Zealand.
What is her birthplace as recorded in the 1861 census?
Her new husband John Thorn is apparently not recorded in the 1861 Newnham census although his newly married wife Mary Ann Thorn(e) is.
Is there a census record for John Thorn(e) (or some name recorded like it) in the same nearby Newnham locality? (ie Box 13 Piece 1756 Folio 126 Folio 140)
Thank you for any insight.

I would suggest the address in Newnham Street is a small girl's school. Most of the residents are listed as boarders and scholars and there are two school mistresses.

Thanks all,
It is certainly true that her father was a mariner, this seems like the end of a long standing brick wall for me.

Just for the record, the placenames recorded above as Stow and Slowgumber for John Thorn B1804 and B1810 are in fact B1809 in Stogumber in Somerset.
