'there is no mention of the parents of either could someone please tell me why this would happen '

With Civil Registration (1837) the Bride and Groom had to give the following information:-
Name and Surname
Age
Condition
Rank or Profession
Residence at the Time of Marriage
Father's Name and Surname
Rank or Profession of Father

Before Civil Registration it was not necessary to give the name of parents. It is unusual to find the names of parents with marriages before Civil Registration.
