The Marriage of Richard Bennett and Jane Morse, 1734 (General)

by Denise Thompson, Sunday, August 23, 2009, 05:55 (5645 days ago)

If some kind person has easy access to the original Walford Chapel Parish Registers I would appreciate a lookup please
There is a record of Richard Bennett marrying Jane Morse at Walford Chapel on 18 July 1734 (Record IDs 71287 and 18224). Both were from Ruardean.
From 1735 to 1750 there are many baptisms of children at Ruardean to Richard and ANN, while there are no records of children born to Richard and Jane.
Is it possible that Richard married Ann Morse and not Jane Morse?
I would appreciate any information on the original PR record, including witnesses please.
Regards,
Denise Thompson

If you find an entry that you consider differs from the original parish record or if you believe it has been transcribed incorrectly, please provide us with the details by using the Parish Records Correction Request form which is available by going to the "Contact Us" link. We will check out your request and amend that record if it is found to have been incorrectly transcribed and will update the details on the Website.

We do a full transcript of what is recorded in the parish registers. Most of the early marriage records never included any witnesses.

Hi Denise

I am unable to answer your queries as my Morse interest stops with the death of John Morse in 1730 and then comes Bennett.

In date order -

I have a will of John Morse of Cirencester dated 1594 naming his brother, Richard and his nephew, John of Lydbrook in connection with a mill. I have not yet transcribed it.

I have found a will(and inventory)of John Morse of Ruardean/Lidbrook dated 1634 and will obtain it.

When John Morse married for the second time to Mary Groves he gave his age as 50 so he was born around 1636. I think the Morses were using English Bicknor church, early baptisms on this site.

Generally I am happy to have researched back to about the early 1750s. But will continue if there are wills and inventories or MIs available. I am trying to get my Fam Hist in order but am easily distracted.

Jane, Ann and Nan are interchangeable.

I have checked the register and the entry definitely says Jane Morse.
