Alfred George Wood 1873 Dymock (Platelayer) (General)

by unknown, Sunday, August 30, 2009, 17:25 (5638 days ago)

My great grandfather was born in Dymock. He was living with his sister and her family (Price)in South Hamlet at the time of the 1891 census, but unfortunately there is no occupation information for any of the household.

In 1900 he married in Lambeth, South London and in the 1901 and 1911 census he is shown as a railway platelayer (and on his marriage certificate).

Is it likely that he moved to Lambeth with the railway? I am assuming that the railway would have been the GWR but I don't know how to proceed with that investigation.

Any suggestions or help appreciated.
Thanks
Ann Kempson (nee Wood)
