Alfred George Wood 1873 Dymock (Platelayer) (General)

My great grandfather was born in Dymock. He was living with his sister and her family (Price)in South Hamlet at the time of the 1891 census, but unfortunately there is no occupation information for any of the household.

In 1900 he married in Lambeth, South London and in the 1901 and 1911 census he is shown as a railway platelayer (and on his marriage certificate).

Is it likely that he moved to Lambeth with the railway? I am assuming that the railway would have been the GWR but I don't know how to proceed with that investigation.

Any suggestions or help appreciated.
Thanks
Ann Kempson (nee Wood)

In 1891 he is living in Theresa St Gloucester - very close to the Gloucester Wagon Works factory on Bristol Road. http://www.visit-gloucestershire.co.uk/gloucester/wagon.htm

Lambeth was home to the "Victoria Works" which merged with Falcon Engine and Car Co and work went to Loughborough- forming Brush Electrical Engineering Co., Victoria Works, Belvedere Road, Lambeth, London, Brush and Railways are well connected.

I understand that the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company archives - are at the Gloucestershire and Diocesan Records Office in Alvin Street, Gloucester ( Gloucestershire Archives)

He may have moved to London with the GWR, or the Wagon Works company or just simply moved and found new employment as a Platelayer. Wher was his wife in 1891 was she in Gloucester too ?
