Sam has sent us another selection of pictures. One is of his late grandfather, Jim Hale cutting glass in one of the sheds at Hale and Co.

We have four views which are possibly locations near Drybrook, if anyone knows the exact locations, please let us know.

Locations Identified

Thanks to Graham Turner who sent me the following information and identified the locations of the photos which were marked "Possibly a view near Drybook ".

-------

According to an early book of collotype photographs which came into my possession in the 1980s, the photographs are your site marked 'possibly Drybrook (or near Drybrook)1 -4' are in fact Cinderford, Littledean, Drybrook and Pillowell in that order.

There are no indications whatever as regards the date of publication by E J Reece but it is thought that the photograph of St Stephen's Church Cinderford which appears in the book is the earliest known photograph that was taken shortly after it's completion. This is guessed from the height of the surrounding trees. So that was probably late 1800s. That photos along with others of the era appear on the Sungreen site. I hope this helps your archive.
