Does anyone know where the location of the Police Station in Upper Lydbrook was in 1871? Is that building still standing today? Thank you.

According to Geoff Sindrey and Ted Heath in their book "A Forest Beat - The Forest of Dean Police 1839-2000" the police station at Lydbrook was described as - "The station house at Lydbrook was considered unsuitable because it was built into the bank of Hangerberry Hill, was overlooked by a quarry and had no room for alterations to be made to the lockup. It was decided to rent a house a short distance away."

The police station was on New Road, Lydbrook and in the 1960's new premises were built opposite the Church. See this webpage for location of church http://www.achurchnearyou.com/lydbrook-holy-jesus/
As stated earlier the station on New Road is built in to the bank and it has a steep garden.
Both premises are now private residences and current addresses are:
Old Police Station, New Road, Hangerberry, LYDBROOK, GL17 9PS
Police Station House, Church Hill, LYDBROOK, GL17 9SW
