Adam Edwin Meek (General)

by brianrwalker @, pontypool, Friday, October 09, 2009, 11:36 (5599 days ago)

I am trying to find info on my great grandfather Adam Edwin Meek born Westbury on Severn November 28 1848 and lived at Ruardean. He last lived at Hafodrynys near Crumlin Monmouthshire and died March 1924. In 1881 he married Mary Townsend at Llanelly Breconshire. I have no info on him between this time and 1850. Any information would be appreciated.

George MEEK Ruardean

by jimashton @, Friday, October 09, 2009, 15:41 (5599 days ago) @ slowhands

Thank You Slowhands !!

From this posting I did change the marriage of Joseph Meek 1749 to Ann Harris. I am always happy to change my tree if subsequent information is more accurate/appropriate etc.

I have 24 George Meeks in my Family Tree, including 2 born in 1801. The marriage I have for George Meek 1801, son of Joseph Meek & Ann Harris is to Sarah Brain - the same as that shown by CM Fenton in this thread and will wait on the sidelines here !!

Ann Meek, my gr grandmother, appears in the George Meek household which is posted in Slowhands reply. I can find baptisms for all the other children listed, but none for Ann. Any suggestions?

Sorry Dewey !

Could she be a grand daughter or "just" another MEEK living with this family ?
Do you have a baptism for Lucy ?

Jim

I'm glad you had this marriage for George 1801 as son of Joseph and Ann. I just picked it out of the Parish Records as a likely candidate.

Now I have another thread of Meeks to follow through. This George 1801 appears to be a second cousin 5 times removed!

Ann MEEK abt 1836 Morse/Ruardean

by Dewey, Friday, October 09, 2009, 18:00 (5598 days ago) @ slowhands

Slowhands,
I do not have a baptism for Lucy.
In the case of Ann, in her 1857 marriage to Cornelius Baldwin, she lists her age as 21, which agrees with the 1836 birth, and her father as George, stone cutter which I presume is similar to Quarryman.
Thank you for the interest and help.

Why three question marks by the name of Edwin Griffiths ? He,s been an enigma to me while researching. It appears he may have taken to name of Meek and his sister, my mother rarely mentioned him.
