Who was William Price's father? (General)
I've been researching the Price family going back from Lily May Price who was born to Thomas Price in 1917 in South Wales. Thomas was born in Coleford in 1880 and I have followed the family back through his father Thomas who was christened in Parkend in 1833 and his grandfather William. It is with William that I have become stuck. The census returns show William as born about 1808/1810 in Newlands. The problem is there are two Williams - one born to Samuel Price and Margaret Marshall in 1807 and one to Thomas and Mary Wakelin in 1810. Is anyone able to help with whose son he is please?
Who was William PRICE's father?
... however one is at Bream and the other lives Redbrook. <Parkend is closer to Bream>
so are there any other clues that might help you narrow the family to either these geographic areas or familiar christian names that appear in siblings etc ?

Who was William Price's father?
Thomas appears to be a family name and I haven't come across any Samuel's - so I am leaning towards Thomas and Mary. However, it would be nice to be certain.

I'd be tempted by the Pillowell /West Dean Mason as your "branch" - it seems a better fit than the Redbrook family.... Age, location, names etc

Who was William Price's father?
Thank you so much Slowhands and Barbara. As the William I am interested in was married to Elizabeth Jones Barbara's reply means I can rule out Samuel and Margaret ergo it must be Thomas and Mary. Slowhands thank you so much for all the information, you are a star amongst men.
William PRICE 1802 & Ann STEPHENS 1800
I'd like to see more information to back up that claim :-)
Pillowell still has more appeal and fit for William PRICE 1807 !

PRICE Coalway Incline - prior thread
Thank you Slowhands. You were kind enough to help me with this family before- my g g grandfather was the Edmund Price mentioned in the 1841 census and the baptism records, and I have traced this branch of the family forwards to modern times.
However, I do not know how to get further back than 1841, as William Price b1806 was at Incline Plane in the 1841 census but said to be 'not born in county'.
I am also unsure whether all the children in the baptismal lists are actually part of the same family - according to the baptism registers,in 1829 the family would have been at Lane End, 1832 at Coalway Pike, 1833 Coalway Lane End, 1835 Coalway Lane End, 1837 Coalway Lane, 1839 Coalway Lane End, 1842 Poolway and the 1841 census shows them at Incline Plane. Were Coalway Lane End and Coalway Lane the same place?
Any suggestions as to how I can find out where William came from would be welcome.
Many thanks
Elizabeth
