Marriage for James Butt POOLE in Redmarley (General)
by WendyHomeyard , Sunday, December 06, 2009, 13:45 (5541 days ago)
There are two marriages for James Butt Poole in Redmarley for 1815 & 1821. I have a copy of the parish register entry for the 2nd marriage, it does not state bachelor nor widower but I was wondering does any one know if this is the same James that married in 1815. I can't trace a burial entry for the first wife Mary?
Also does anyone know where the 'Butt' came from? I'm trying to find out who my James who married Judith Weston in 1821 came from/parents etc.
thanks to anyone who can help
Wendy
Marriage for James Butt POOLE in Redmarley

The James Poole who married Mary Brookes in 1815 did not sign his name but marked instead. The James Poole who married Judith Weston in 1821 did sign. If these two records are for the same person it is possible that James learnt how to write his name. However, there is a burial in 1837 for Mary Poole aged 59. It is possible that this was the wife who married James in 1815. There is a marriage for a James Poole, Widower in 1839 to Betty Blackway. This James Poole did not sign his name but marked also.
Perhaps the James Poole who married in 1815 and the one who married in 1821 were different individuals.
