Looking for Mathews's who relate to Cheltenham 1800's (General)
Hello all
I've just joined this site after getting "second wind" with my Family History research, started by contact from distant relations in Canada who found me on the internet.
My immediate family are all from Derby and have been since the late 1880's, but I can trace the Mathews's back to Cheltenham and Stow-on-the-Wold to about 1813.
I spent 5 years living in Newnham-on-Severn at the end of the 90's/early 2000's but didn't have the "bug" for family reasearch. I since found a Great Grandmother who was born in Abenhall (Mitcheldean) and am rather frustrated by the fact I now live in Southern France and cannot easily get to the Forest or Gloucestershire to do some more research. However, if any of you good people are researching Mathews's (or Matthews's) in he Forest, I shall be glad to hear from you, to see if we have any commonality.

if any of you good people are researching Mathews's (or Matthews's) in he Forest, I shall be glad to hear from you, to see if we have any commonality.
There are many lines of Matthews families from the Forest of Dean.
My suggestion is that you share with us some names and dates of the Matthews people you are related to, this way you are more likely to get a reply from someone who maybe connected to you.

I'm specifically looking for either parents, siblings or family of children of John Mathews, born 1813 in Cheltenham, who married Sarah Weedon (b1823 Bermondsey, Surrey of William Weedon and Sarah Davis).
Children of John and Sarah are: William (1838 Chelt), Samuel (1843 Chelt), Edward (1846 Chelt) John (1850 Chelt) Emily (1852 Chelt) Henry (July 27 1853 Stow - we have history on this member via Canada) Charles (1856 Stow) M.A. (1858 Maugersbury, Stow) Joseph (Jan 22 1860, Stow we have history on this member) and Lydia (1863 Chelt).
Obviously, it is very difficult for Maikel (who is researching Henry Mathews's line from Canada) and me (now live in Southern France) to get to the area on a regular basis, so any help or pointers will be gratefully received.
